Current Opportunities

Windows Network/Systems Engineer: 

Provide expertise required to build secure and reliable networks. $30-45 /hour depending on experience plus overtime. 

 

Structured Cabling Technician:

Provide turnkey solutions for engineering, building, maintaining and repairing telecommunication networks that are underground, aerial, indoors and wireless. We provide design, installation, construction, verification and maintenance services for cabled and wireless networks. $18-35/hour depending on experience plus overtime.

Windows Network/Systems Engineer 
 

JDC.ca is looking for Leamington-area candidates who have a strong passion and aptitude for information technology (IT), with at least 3 years of experience. 
 

Duties Consist of: 
 

  • Client relationship management as part of the JDC’s client support team – participating in ongoing support and service delivery, needs analysis, solution design & delivery 

  • All aspects of Windows network and system administration. Supporting multiple clients & networks, on-site and through remote access. Desktop and end-user support (hardware, Windows and applications). Support of LAN/WAN technology and connections. 

  • Help Desk & Network Operations Centre (NOC) support. 
     

You will have: 
 

Mandatory 
 

  • University degree or 2-year technical diploma – IT discipline 

  • 3 – 5 years progressive experience supporting Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 networks in the business world 

  • Candidates who work well independently and who can demonstrate their experience being an effective team member 

  • Versatility and flexibility – a willingness to tackle any task, ranging from day-to-day desktop support to network architecture design 

  • Exceptional English language skills: oral and written English*communication are top notch and timely 

  • MUST have own vehicle during working hours, for dispatched work (expenses reimbursed) 

  • Customer Commitment with outstanding work ethic and impeccable integrity 
     

Capable 
 

  • Network administration experience 

  • Experience supporting multiple server and desktop operating systems in a single network 

  • MS Exchange, Terminal Services, SQL Server and SharePoint administration 

  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Active Directory 

  • Firewall, router, TCP/IP and internet connectivity configuration experience 

  • Experience with all aspects of business networks – end-user support, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, desktop and software version management 

  • A customer service focus – demonstrated experience utilizing the whole team to best advantage to meet client needs 

  • Well developed troubleshooting & problem management skills. You take the initiative in the troubleshooting and problem resolution process and you understand how to manage the process of insuring the problem gets resolved, including managing the efforts of others 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; you relate well to people and understand priorities, you can explain technical concepts in non-technical terms

Desired 
 

  • Experience administering VMware 

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, including but not limited to Office 365, Azure, AWS etc. 

  • MCSE in currently supported Microsoft technology 

  • Current certifications from other vendors considered an asset

Structured Cabling Technician 

 

The Structured Cabling Technician must be willing to travel in the local area. The Technician will be responsible for the installation of structured cabling of commercial and/or office buildings with a professional approach to customer satisfaction. JDC is looking for a self-starter with a passion for technology and is comfortable working independently and as part of a team, in a collaborative, goal-oriented atmosphere. You have a reputation for being reliable, customer-focused and approach your daily work in an efficient and highly organized manner. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
 

  • At all times, the Structured Wiring Technician is responsible for ensuring the health & safety of themselves and customers in an environmentally friendly manner 

  • Daily completion of time sheets documenting all hours spent during the work day for each project including an accurate accounting of all product used on each job. 

  • Conducting site surveys accurately with all required documentation and pictures 

  • Performing the installation and termination of structured cabling; CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others 

  • Accurately read and record the floor plans 

  • Responsible for reconnecting, disconnecting equipment and/or services as per company standards and procedures 

  • Labelling of cables according to defined standards 

  • Performing all the necessary network tests after installation and making the necessary corrections 

  • Receiving and completing daily work orders from project coordinator 

  • Ensuring proper materials are being used before the start of a job or project 

  • Maintaining all safety procedures throughout job or project 

  • Ensuring test results are properly downloaded into the test equipment with the proper identification 

  • Ensure customer expectations, through inquiries and requests, are met and exceeded with a high level of service and handled professionally 

  • Communicate accurate details regarding the progress of installation, as well as additional work and charges outside the scope of the project, including any issues that may arise, to Project Manager 

  • Responsible for completing detailed and accurate paperwork 

  • Accountable for ensuring all prepared time sheets and expense reports are accurate and submitted on time 

  • Follow and maintain all safety policies, procedures throughout the job and project and bring forth any recommendations; filling out JSA’s and attend safety meetings as required 

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS 
 

  • 1-3 years’ structured and fiber network cabling and testing experience 

  • Experience with IT network equipment cabling requirements and connections 

  • Diploma in cabling/telecommunication an asset 

  • Valid driver’s license and able to provide a Drivers’ Abstract 

  • Read and interpret published work plans for installation purposes 

  • Current WHMIS and Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification. 

  • Ability to clear a Criminal background check. 

  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident for the National Security Screening Process 

  • Customer focused both internally and externally; ability to handle both favorable and unfavorable customers; excellent verbal and written communication

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

​

  • Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety training requirements to maintain a successful safety record 

  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight timelines and frequent demanding deadlines 

  • Ability to self-start and stay on task with minimal supervision; identify problems and situations and implement solutions or escalate as required 

  • Must be willing and able to work various shifts as assigned (evenings, weekends & statutory holidays). 

  • Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency
